Ole Missโ All-Time Leading Scorer Among 585 Nominees
OXFORD, Miss. โ Former Ole Miss attacker CeCe Kizer has been named a nominee for the 2019 NCAA Woman of the Year Award, announced Wednesday. Kizer is among a record 585 female student-athletes who have been nominated.
Established in 1991, the NCAA Woman of the Year award recognizes graduating female college athletes who have exhausted their eligibility and distinguished themselves in academics, athletics, service and leadership throughout their collegiate careers.
ย
Kizer, Ole Miss' all-time leader in career goals and points, put on a show during her final season in Oxford. The Overland Park, Kansas native racked up 13 goals and eight assists during the year, becoming just the third player in SEC history to lead the league in goals, assists and points during the regular season. For her efforts, Kizer earned her second career United Soccer Coach All-America nod, standing as the only Rebel to ever receive the honor.
ย
In addition to her prowess on the pitch, Kizer demonstrated excellence off the field as well. She was named Ole Miss' first-ever Senior CLASS Award winner, while also pulling in CoSIDA Google Cloud Academic All-District recognition for the second-straight season.
ย
As the next part of the selection process, conferences will select up to two nominees each from the pool of school nominees. Then, the Woman of the Year selection committee, made up of representatives from the NCAA membership, will choose the Top 30 honorees โ 10 from each division of the NCAA.
ย
The Top 30 honorees will be celebrated and the 2019 NCAA Woman of the Year will be named at the annual award ceremony Oct. 20 in Indianapolis.
