Opening Statementโฆ
"It was a good weekend for us. We beat SEMO Thursday night 2-0 behind two goals from Channing Foster and very good goalkeeping play by Ashley Orkus. Yesterday, we had a crazy game where we went down 2-0 after some defensive mistakes by us. Then we were able to get one back before halftime to make it 2-1. We went into halftime and felt good about how we were playing. It was super hot. A Sunday at 11 a.m., so very difficult conditions and I really liked the way our team battled and came back.
We tied it on a corner kick that Molly (Martin) headed in that made it 2-2 with about 10 minutes to go and then we were really on them. ย (Haleigh) Stackpole actually had a great chance in the last few seconds to win it. We went into overtime and we were on them again. With about 25 seconds to go, Julia Phillips, one of our team captains, stole the ball from them at midfield and got the ball to Gabby Little, another one of our senior captains. Gabby (Little) made a cut and ripped a shot side netting for the win. Great win, I think we deserved it. We played well enough to win the game. It would have been disappointing to walk away with a draw or a loss."
I liked the way the team fought under difficult conditions on the second game of the weekend. I think it sets us up well as we look towards the future and it will give them some confidence. I was really happy with our whole team defending. We gave up two goals but I think that is something we can clean up. We head now on the road for a Thursday/Sunday. Thursday at Western Kentucky and then Sunday at Murray State. Two very good teams playing very well this year. Both teams are very well coached. Our team is in a good spot and we look forward to a good week of practice."

"It's special certainly. I think being here to start my 10th season is pretty awesome. We love it here, I love it here, and we get treated so well. I've had the same sport administrator in Lynette Johnson the whole time. Her and I work hand in hand together. Rob Thompson is my associate head coach who has been here for every one of those wins as well. He started here with me. We've just had great players through the years and that really puts you in a spot to continue to win games. In soccer, it is a lot of wins. We only play about 18 games per year, so to get to that point is a pretty proud moment certainly and is something I think is a reflection of the entire university and the support that we get. We are supported really well with soccer and that is something that has helped us get this milestone."
