9/28/2019 | Men's Tennis

LAFAYETTE, La. – For the second time in as many tournaments, Ole Miss men's tennis senior Tim Sandkaulen advanced to the finals of a fall competition. Sandkaulen was victorious in the semifinals of the John Breaux Cajun Tennis Classic on Saturday.

The finals will be streamed on ESPN+ and available on Comcast Sports TV at 11 a.m. CT. on Sunday.

Saturday offered the No. 25 ITA preseason ranked singles player the chance to improve to 6-1 on the young season. The veteran delivered with a hard-fought 7-6 (5), 6-4 win over Emile Hudd of Oklahoma State.

"Today was definitely the best match I've played this fall," Sandkaulen said. "Both sets were really close and it could have gone both ways. (Hudd) started off strong in the second set but I was able to raise and hold my level. I'm looking forward to playing my second consecutive final in the fall and hope I can get the win tomorrow."

He will face Makey Rakotomalala of Arizona State in Sunday's singles final. Rakotomalala defeated USF's Chase Ferguson 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 in the other semifinal.

Sandkaulen will look to win his first finals matchup this fall after falling in the championship of the Crimson Tide Four-in-the-Fall two weeks ago.
