Women's Tennis All-American Mondays: Part 2

Part 2 of a seven-part series paying tribute to the rich history of Ole Miss Women's Tennis and their wealth of All-American honors since the program's inception in the mid 1970s. Ole Miss has produced 13 All-Americans and garnered a total of 26 All-American honors, including recent national champion Arianne Hartono. Each week, olemisssports.com will look back at these individuals and their incredible accomplishments during their time in Oxford.
ABBY GUTHRIE, 2012
Abby Guthrie became the 10th All-American in the histor of the program in 2012 ending the year ranked No. 6 in the nation in doubles. Guthrie ended the year ranked No. 6 in the nation in doubles. She finished ranked No. 1 in the Southern Region in doubles and No. 15 in singles. Guthrie helped lead the Rebels to their fourth consecutive NCAA appearance and a host site for the NCAA first and second rounds. In addition, she helped lead the Rebels to their second top-four overall SEC finish in three years and third SEC Tournament Semifinal appearance in four years. Individually, Guthrie made the SEC All-Tournament Team. She finished a combined 20-2 in the SEC at No. 1 doubles and No. 5 singles.
During her career, Guthrie helped lead the Rebels to four straight NCAA appearances, including the Sweet Sixteen in 2010 as well as the SEC Western Division Championship in 2010. She participated in the NCAA Doubles Championships twice. Off the court, Guthrie was named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, selected to the SEC Academic Honor Roll and a regular on the University Honor Roll.
KAREN NIJSSEN, 2010
Karen Nijssen became the ninth All-American in the history of the program, earning the honor in doubles with Kristi Boxx. Nijssen was a huge part of the Rebels' success during her three-year career. In one of their best seasons in several years, Nijssen helped the Rebels advance to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen for the eighth time, capture the SEC Western Division Championship and earn a final national ranking of No. 17. She helped the team post its best overall conference finish (2nd) since 1999 and its best league record (8-3) since 2000. Nijssen was a three-time All-SEC honoree and an NCAA Doubles participant three times with two different partners. She ended every year of her career nationally ranked in doubles including No. 10 in 2010 with Boxx. Off the court, Nijssen was a member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll and a regular on the University Honor Roll.
