Men’s Tennis Wins Three Matches at Day Two of Auburn Invitational

Tim Sandkaulen Wins in Singles vs. Auburn

AUBURN, Ala. – Ole Miss men's tennis continued an impressive start to the fall as No. 1 singles player Tim Sandkaulen improved to 2-0 this season at a hard-fought day two of three at the Auburn Invitational on Saturday.
 
Ole Miss won three of five matches against Auburn, Vanderbilt, and Alabama on Saturday, competing in both singles and doubles against Auburn and Vanderbilt, while only playing singles against Alabama. Ole Miss faced Vanderbilt for the first time this season after squaring off against Auburn and Alabama on Friday.
 
vs. Auburn
 
In singles, Sandkaulen defeated the Tiger's Tyler Stice in two highly-contested sets, 7-6 (2), 7-6 (5) for the first Rebel tiebreaker win of the season. It was a similarly hard-fought situation in doubles for Sandkaulen and partner Brady Draheim, who ultimately fell to Auburn's Tad Maclean and Finn Murgett in a close 9-7 match.
 
vs. Vanderbilt
 
In doubles, Ole Miss faced tough competition against the Commodores, with Jan Soren Hain and Cotter Wilson edging out Vanderbilt's James Ignatowich and Joubert Klopper, 8-6, for the win.
 
In singles, Draheim lost a drawn-out contest to Ignatowich, 6-4, 5-7, 6-4, in the Rebels' first three-set match of the season.
 
vs. Alabama
 
Wilson remained in outstanding form to begin the season, defeating Alabama's Sam Fischer 6-1, 6-0. Wilson improves to 2-0 on the season, only losing six total games in two singles matches played.
 
Coming Up
The Rebels will return to action tomorrow at 9 a.m. CT for the third and final day of the Auburn Invitational.
