Ole Miss Hoops Kicks Off Season at Pavilion Madness

Both Rebel Men and Women Open 2020-21 Season at Home on Nov. 25

OXFORD, Miss. – In front of a limited number of fans in The Pavilion and live on SEC Network+, the Ole Miss men's and women's basketball teams got fans excited for the 2020-21 season with Pavilion Madness presented by Oxford Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event replaced the annual Square Jam held on the historic Oxford Square.

The women started the event with a three-point competition, and Taylor Smith proved to be the sharpest shooter by making 10 threes in the finals over teammate Snudda Collins.

After the women scrimmaged for 10 minutes, it was the men's turn to take Craddock Court. Luis Rodriguez set the mark, knocking down 16 threes to set up a matchup against Marshall Henderson. The Ole Miss legend, now graduate manager for the team, did not disappoint, hitting 16 from beyond the arc to defeat Rodriguez in the finals.

Next up was the slam dunk contest. Austin Crowley, Jarkel Joiner Matthew Murrell and Shon Robinson took flight to throw down some impressive dunks. The two Mississippi natives, Crowley and Joiner, advanced to the finals with Crowley using a between-the-legs slam to claim the dunk title.

Both teams begin the season in two weeks (Nov. 25) for a pair of games inside The Pavilion.
