Men’s Tennis Battles in Close Matches with Georgia

Rebels Win Two Matches Versus Homecourt Bulldogs
ATHENS, Ga. – The Ole Miss Rebels won one match in both singles and doubles to begin the Southern Intercollegiate Championships on Friday.
Ole Miss claimed two victories against SEC rival Georgia. Singles matches were standard three set scoring, whereas doubles utilized eight-game pro set scoring. The Rebels and Bulldogs competed in a handful of closely contested matches.
In singles, Cotter Wilson claimed an individual win for Ole Miss by defeating Georgia's Baptiste Anselmo in three sets. After dropping the first set 6-3, Wilson came from behind in strong fashion. Wilson won the second set 6-3, and dominated the third 6-1 to win his third singles match of the season.
In a battle of marquee transfers, Brady Draheim fought hard in a three-set loss to the Bulldog's Billy Rowe. Draheim took the first set 6-3, ultimately coming up short 6-2 and 6-3 in the second and third sets.
In doubles, Ole Miss utilized three unique pairings this season. Draheim partnered with Jan Soren Hain to defeat Georgia's top-30 pairing Blake Croyder and Phillip Henning, 8-7 (4). Both Draheim and Hain improved their individual doubles records to 4-3 this season. All-American Tim Sandkaulen and Cotter Wilson narrowly fell to Erik Grevelius and All-American Billy Rowe in the tiebreak. In his season debut, Simon Junk partnered with Florida's Brain Berdusco and won six games off of Baptiste Anselmo and Britton Johnston. Junk paired with Berdusco in order to balance the Rebels' and Gators' odd-man roster sizes.

The Rebels will face Auburn in day two of three of the Southern Intercollegiate Championships at 9 a.m. tomorrow.
