Rebels in a Four-Way Tie for First After Day One at 1-under
MELBOURNE, Fla. – The No. 12 Ole Miss women's golf team sits in a four-way tie for first after day one at the Moon Golf Invitational.
Play was suspended due to darkness late into the second round after fog delayed Monday morning's shotgun start.
The Rebels sit at 1-under for the tournament, tied with No. 38 Louisville, No. 34 North Carolina and Seminole State atop the leaderboard. Ole Miss leads the field in par 5 scoring at 13-under.
Ole Miss shot a 1-over 289 during the Monday's first round. The Rebels were one of only three teams in the field to shoot under par during the afternoon round. Four out of the five Rebels still had one more hole to play when play was suspended. Ellen Hutchinson-Kay was the lone Rebel to finish the full 36 holes.
Chiara Tamburlini is the top Rebel on the leaderboard. The freshman is in a tie for fifth at 2-under with one hole to play in her second round. She shot a 2-under 70 during the first round with four birdies. Tamburlini has shot under par in four of her seven rounds as a Rebel so far this season.
Kennedy Swann sits at even par for the tournament in a tie for 22nd overall. The senior shot a 1-over 73 in the first round, and is 1-under with one to play for her second. Swann is third in the field with eight birdies, six coming in the second round, and has played the par 5s at 4-under for the tournament.
Julia Johnson matched Swann on the leaderboard at even par after day one. The junior shot a 1-over 73 for her first round and is 1-under through 17. She is second on the team in pars with 23.
Andrea Lignell is in a tie for 26th at 1-over. The freshman shot a 2-over 74 this morning and was 1-under when play was suspended. She leads the team and is second in the field in total pars with 27.
Ellen Hutchinson-Kay went 73-79 and is tied for 62nd overall.
Play will resume tomorrow morning at 7:30 a.m. CT with the final round starting right after second round play concludes.
