Hermansson, Hutchinson-Kay, Lignell, Swann, Tamburlini Receive Academic Honor

OXFORD, Miss. – The Ole Miss women's golf team had a program-record five players earn Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar honors, the organization announced on Monday.

Pi-Lillebi Hermansson, Ellen Hutchinson-Kay, Andrea Lignell, Kennedy Swann and Chiara Tamburlini all earned the prestigious accolade.

The five Rebel golfers were among a total of 1,401 collegiate golfers who received the honor across each of the three divisions. With some of the most stringent academic guidelines in college athletics, each member of the team has a minimum 3.50 grade point average and must have played in 50 percent of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds.

This makes 13 selections in five years for head coach Kory Henkes' Rebels.

Hermansson becomes just the fourth Rebel golfer ever to earn WGCA All-America Scholar accolades four straight years in a row.  The Djursholm, Sweden, native recently graduated with a double major in psychology and French. Hermansson earned a spot on the Chancellor's Honor Roll all eight semesters as a Rebel.

Hutchinson-Kay, a rising junior and biomedical engineering major from Taby, Sweden, was tabbed to the prestigious academic team for the second straight year. She posted a 73.67 stroke average last season and recorded one top-20 finish.

Swann, who is returning for an extra year of eligibility in 2020-21 after the coronavirus pandemic shut down the 2020 season, earned academic All-America honors for the first time in her career. The Austin, Texas, native was named to the Chancellor's Honor Roll this last spring and the Dean's Honor Roll in the fall.

Lignell and Tamburlini each were named an All-American Scholar in their first season at Ole Miss. Tamburlini, a business major, posted a perfect 4.0 GPA both semesters last year, while Lignell registered a 3.86 GPA in the spring.
