Two Rebels Make Cut at Women's Amateur Championship

Ellen Hume, Chiara Tamburlini Advance to Match Play in Liverpool
LIVERPOOL, England – After one round of stroke play Wednesday, two Ole Miss women's golfers made the under-64 cut to advance to match play at the Women's Amateur Championship in Liverpool, England.
Sophomore Chiara Tamburlini and junior transfer Ellen Hume will continue to represent the Rebels at West Lancashire Golf Club in the 117th classic tournament, as it moves to match play through Aug. 29.
After inclement weather during the first round of stroke play Tuesday caused play to be abandoned, it was determined that 18 holes of stroke play would decide the top 64 golfers that would advance to match play.
Tamburlini finished her round in 32nd place after shooting a 3-over, 75 on the day, including a birdie on the 351-yard, par 4 at No. 10. The St. Gallen, Switzerland, native is following up a strong freshman season, where she had a 72.78 stroke average through three tournaments.
Hume, the 2019 English Women's Amateur Champion, finished the round at 77 (+5). Her best hole of the day took place on the No. 11, 530-yard, par 5, where she birdied.
Incoming freshman Smilia Sonderby shot a 6-over 78 to finish 65th and just miss the cut due to a scorecard countback.
The round of 64 match play begins Thursday morning with Tamburlini teeing off at 1:38 a.m. CT and Hume at 5:30 a.m. CT.
