Rebel Senior Continues Solid Play at USGA Event

ROCKVILLE, Md. – Ole Miss' Kennedy Swann picked up two match play victories Friday to advance to the quarterfinal round of the 2020 U.S. Women's Amateur at the Woodmont Country Club, in Rockville, Maryland.

Swann won her Round of 32 match 2-and-1 in the morning session and then followed that up by defeating Mexico's Isabella Fierro (Oklahoma State) 2-and-1 to move on to the quarters.

Swann will compete in Friday's quarterfinal, where she will face Colombia's Valery Plata (Michigan State). They will tee off at 6:20 a.m. CT.

The Austin, Texas, native finished tied for 18th in stroke play with a 2-over, 146 (75-71). She then defeated Stanford's Aline Krauter, of Germany, 2-and-1 in the round of 64.

Swann, who earned second team All-SEC honors last season, finished no worse than a tie for 17th all season, including an individual win at the Illini Women's Invitational at Medinah.

Swann finished fourth in the conference in scoring (71.39), which was good for the second-lowest single-season stroke average in program history. She will use her fifth-year of eligibility to return and pursue her MBA.

Ole Miss' Julia Johnson also participated in the U.S. Women's Amateur. The rising senior missed the cut for match play, shooting a two-round 153 (79-74).
