Ole Miss Head Soccer Coach Recaps Texas A&M, Previews LSU
Ole Miss Soccer Head Coachย Matt Mottย met with members of the media on Monday as part of his weekly press conference. Coach Mott recapped this past week's loss to Texas A&M before previewing Sunday's road tilt with LSU.
Opening Statement
"First of all, it's just great to be back. Great to be back to competition, great to be back on our home field with our fans. Even though they were limited, it was nice to be in front of some fans and playing somebody else. Unfortunately, the result was pretty difficult playing Texas A&M. They are a very good team. I have to take the major responsibility. They played a system that we really weren't prepared for and it hurt us. I thought in the first half we were lucky to get to half time tied at 0-0. We did hit the post off of a long throw from Taylor Radecki. We went into halftime trying to make some adjustments that would help fix our plan for their system and in the end they came out in the second half and kind of took it to us. In the beginning they got a goal and then followed with two more for the 3-0 loss. On the positive side for us, we get some video to be able to fix some things. We did see some good performancesย from some of the new guys. Taylor Radecki, like I mentioned, a sophomore transfer from Florida State. Martaย Estupiñánย from Spain is anotherย transfer for us did really well at centerback. Lucy Green from Meridian got the start for us as a freshman and did a good job for us. Ramsey Davis was a big plug for us off the bench as well. The guys that we need to play well did a good job. I thought Ashley Orkusย was really good in goal. But, we've got to be better in the back and create more chances as we go forward. It's interesting now with one game a week, which is very different for us with soccer. We'll get a full week of training before we head to Baton Rouge to face an LSU team that I thought had a good performance against Arkansas in a loss, 2-0. They're athletic and talented with a brand new coach and it'll be their home opener. We've got to be at our best next Sunday at 1 o'clock on ESPNU. Looking forward to the challenge and glad we're back playing soccer this fall."
