Derting and Zakrzeski Fire Career-Bests
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Fueled by the sharpshooting of Jillian Zakrzeski and Kristen Derting, No. 4 Ole Miss downed Ohio State to pick up its first victory of the weekend, 4682-4658.
Zakrzeski's performance highlighted the match for the Rebels as she fired a career-high aggregate score of 1185, tied for the third-best score in program history. She also set a new school record with a 20 shot smallbore standing score of 198-12x. Derting also had a strong outing, eclipsing the 1180 mark for the third time this season.
As a team, the Rebels posted scores of 2326 in smallbore and 2356 in air rifle. Additionally, the top three individual performers in the match were all from Ole Miss.
"I'm very happy that we saw more personal bests and a school record today," said head coach Marsha Beasley. "The team has been working very hard since returning after Christmas. Overall, we're making good progress. Our last match was over seven weeks ago and I think we benefited from the break followed by a focused effort in practice this past week."

Derting followed with a strong 584, and Abby Buesseler rounded out the top three with a 580. Also serving as counters were Kamilla Kisch and Sophia Cuozzo, with scores of 572 and 568, respectively.
