Nikola Slavic to Face Auburn’s Tad Maclean in Regional Championship on Tuesday

AUBURN, Ala. – In an Ole Miss versus Ole Miss ITA Southern Championships singles semifinals ITA No. 21 Nikola Slavic defeated No. 11 Finn Reynolds in straight sets on Monday. Slavic faces Auburn's Tad Maclean in the championship match at Yarborough Tennis Center at 10 a.m. CT on Tuesday.

After defeating Ole Miss teammates in back-to-back rounds, Slavic remains one win away from claiming the ITA Southern Region singles title. Winning the event guarantees automatic qualification into the ITA Fall Nationals (Nov. 4-7 in San Diego).

Slavic, the No. 3 overall seed in the tournament, took down top-seeded Reynolds in straight sets on Monday. Slavic defeated Reynolds in identical set scores, 6-3, 6-3.

Slavic will face the Tiger's Maclean in the finals tomorrow. Maclean, unranked in the ITA Preseason Rankings, advanced to the finals without facing a top-eight seeded player in the draw. Maclean, known to be a doubles specialist, reached the NCAA Doubles Championships finals last season. He competed primarily at No. 3 singles for Auburn last year.

Slavic will look to be the fourth Rebel to win the regional championship in singles and the first since Nik Sholtz raised the trophy in 2012. The Rebels last won a regional championship in 2017 when Zvomir Babic and Filip Kraljevic claimed the doubles title.
