Tiphanie Fiquet Claims ITF Lubbock Doubles Title

Fiquet and Fernanda Labraña Defeat ITA No. 1 Carmen and Ivana Corley in Finals
LUBBOCK, TEXAS – Ole Miss' Tiphanie Fiquet partnered with Texas' Fernanda Labraña to claim the ITF W15 Lubbock doubles title on Saturday.
Fiquet earned her fourth ITF doubles title of 2021 at the W15 level on Saturday. The event officialy known as the West Texas Pro Tennis Open began on Tuesday, Sept. 28. Fiquet also competed individually as the No. 7 seed in singles, reaching the Round of 16.
No. 2 Fiquet and Labraña edged-out No. 3 seed Carmen and Ivana Corley 6-4, 6-7 (2), 1-0 (10-8) on Saturday afternoon in a match spanning nearly two hours. Fiquet and Labraña won just 10 more total points overall in the match (77 to 67). The Oklahoma sisters were awarded the No. 1 ITA Preseason Ranking and entered the tournament in good form after reaching the Semifinals of the Milwaukee Tennis Classic.
Fiquet and Labraña won four-consecutive matches to claim the 16-team title. Fiquet and Labraña defeated all three of their previous opponents in straight-sets, earning victories on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday before receiving a rest day on Friday. Fiquet won her fifth career ITF doubles title in Lubbock (three W15 Monastir titles in 2021, W15 Cancun title in 2019).
In singles, Fiquet reached the Round of 16 after earning a first-round victory on Wednesday and losing out on Thursday. She received the No. 7 overall seed in the tournament and defeated Kylie Collins 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 in the Round of 32. Collins is a member of the defending national champion Texas Longhorns team.
Fiquet lost in straight sets to Ukraine's 17-year-old Anita Sahdiieva on Thursday. Sahdiieva is a freshman at Baylor and the18U Ukranian Junior Champion.
Coming Up:
Fiquet returns to the ITF Pro Circuit to compete in the W25 Redding in Redding, California on Monday. She is the seventh best ranked player in the qualifying draw.
