Finn Reynolds Defeated by No. 28 August Holmgren in Fall Nationals R16

Nikola Slavic Wins One Consolation Match, Falls in Consolation Quarterfinals
SAN DIEGO – Ole Miss All-American Finn Reynolds fell to San Diego's August Holmgren in the ITA National Fall round of 16 on Friday. Nikola Slavic competed in the consolation draw, earning a victory in the round of 16 and losing in the quarterfinals to end the Rebels' tournament pursuit.
Reynolds fell behind Holmgren 4-1 to begin the first set. Reynolds proceeded to win four of the next five games to tie the opening set, 5-5. Holmgren then won the next two to take the opening set, 7-5. Reynolds was unable to reclaim momentum of the match as Holmgren took the second set 6-2.
Holmgren earned the victory at the Barnes Tennis Center, located five miles away from the University of San Diego campus. Holmgren, ranked No. 28 in the ITA Preseason Rankings, earned qualification into the event by placing runner-up in the ITA All-American Championships. He also notably defeated Rebel alum Tim Sandkaulen in the NCAA Singles Championships round of 32 last May. Both Reynolds and Holmgren represented their home nations in Davis Cup Qualification matches this fall, Reynolds for New Zealand and Holmgren for Denmark.
Slavic defeated Duke's No. 120-ranked Andrew Zhang, 6-3, 6-3 in the round of 16 of the consolation draw. Slavic fell to Pepperdine's Pietro Fellin in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, in the following round. Both the consolation round of 16 and quarterfinals were played on Friday.
Reynolds concludes the fall season 6-3, and Slavic ends the fall 7-3 in singles. Reynolds also went 4-2 in doubles this fall, and Slavic 3-2.
