Weisz Finishes Second At Winter Airgun

Two Rebels Record Top-10 Finishes
ANNISTON, Ala. – Rebel Rifle alum Ali Weisz had an impressive weekend of shooting at the 2021 USA Shooting Winter Airgun, firing the top individual score in the qualification with an 1894.5 and finishing second overall in the final.
Weisz paced the field on Thursday with a 632.8, eclipsing the 105.0 mark in five of her six series. She followed it up with scores of 631.2 and 630.5 the next two days. The 2016 grad was the top individual after the three-day qualification. In the final, she advanced to the gold medal round with fellow Tokyo Olympian Sagen Maddalena. Weisz finished 2.9 points behind Maddalena, taking home silver.
Five current team members also competed individually over the weekend. Kristen Derting was the Rebels top performer, improving her scores each day. The junior tallied a 620.1 on day three to help her finish 24th on the weekend. Claire O'Neel followed her teammate, posting the next best overall mark. She fired the 10th best score on day one with a 625.0. Derting and O'Neel also finished eighth and ninth, respectively, in the U21 age division.
Freshman M'Leah Lambdin had a strong showing, finishing 34th overall and 11th among juniors at the Anniston match with a combined score of 1846.9. Jillian Zakrzeski turned in her best score on day two, firing a 619.4 to finish with a three-day score of 1841.9 (45th). Abby Buesseler rounded out the group, overcoming a slow start on day one, with back-to-back scores of 617.3 and 616.0 to finish 57th overall.
Also competing were two future Rebels, Julianna Hays and Emma Pereira. Hays finished second overall in the U18 group with an 1859.0, while Pereira was 29th with an 1816.7.
