Kareisová and Mize No. 8 in Updated ITA Doubles Rankings

Tiphanie Fiquet No. 20 and Sabina Machalova No. 80 in Latest National Rankings
TEMPE, Ariz. – Ole Miss Rebels Ludmila Karesiová and Kelsey Mize earned the No. 8 national doubles ranking in the updated ITA National Rankings as released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association on Wednesday. The Rebels placed two singles players in the rankings, Tiphanie Fiquet at No. 20 and Sabina Machalova at No. 80.
The Rebels jumped forward in the individual rankings in the first update since the ITA Preseason Rankings released on Sept. 7. Kareisová and Mize are now ranked as the second-best team in the SEC at No. 8, behind Texas A&M's Jayci Goldsmith and Tatiana Makarova at No. 5. Fiquet received the fourth-highest national ranking among SEC student-athletes at No. 20.
Kareisová and Mize put forth a strong 2021 season after beginning the year unranked. As a team, the duo earned a 6-3 overall record including a 1-2 record versus ranked opponents. The tandem placed runners-up at the ITA Southern Championships, and competed in the ITA National Fall Championships, earning a consolation tournament victory. Their ranked victory was versus No. 43 Chloe Cirotte and Magda Adaloglou of Mississippi State. The Rebel duo jumps into the national top-10.
Fiquet improved 49 positions upon her pre-season ranking from No. 69 to No. 20 in singles. The Nice, France, native put forth a dominant fall season, earning an 8-1 record including a 4-0 record versus nationally ranked opponents. Fiquet won the ITA Southern Singles Championships and reached the round of 16 of the ITA National Fall Championships. She earned three victories versus opponents ranked in the top-31 in the nation.
Machalova received the No. 80 ranking in the updated singles rankings. She earned a 9-5 record over the fall and was 3-2 versus ITA ranked opponents. Her nine singles victories led the Rebels in wins. Machalova competed in the Milwaukee Tennis Classic, ITA Southern Championships and the ITA All-American Championships.
Head Coach Mark Beyers' team returns to the court to begin the spring season on Jan. 14 for the U of San Diego Invitational. The Rebels will then return home for their first dual of the season in Oxford on Jan. 21 versus Memphis. ITA National Team Rankings will be released at a later date.
