Third Round of Play in South Carolina Halted Due to Weather
COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Ole Miss women's golf team is in 10th place after two and a half rounds of play at the Gamecock Intercollegiate in Columbia, South Carolina.
The Rebels carded a second round 299 (+11) on Tuesday and were halfway through the third and final round (+3) before play was halted due to inclement weather.
If the third round is unable to be completed on Wednesday, due to more potential weather issues in the area, results would be taken from the first 36 holes. After two rounds, Ole Miss was tied for 10th overall (294-299—593).
Julia Johnson continues to lead the Rebels as she tallied her fifth consecutive round of par or better with a second round 72 and is currently tied for ninth place overall. Johnson got her day started with birdie on the par-5, No. 7. On the back nine holes, Johnson tallied two birdies and seven pars. The senior from St. Gabriel, Louisiana, ranks third in the field in par-4 scoring (E).
Sophomore Andrea Lignell currently sits tied for 28th overall after a 74 (+2) during Tuesday's second round. Lignell is seeking her fifth top 20 finish of the season.
Chiara Tamburlini and Smilla Sonderby were the two other counting scores for the Rebels on Tuesday. Tamburlini was third on the team with three second round birdies and is currently tied for 38th (74-76). Halfway through her third round, Sonderby is 10-over (76-77). Kennedy Swann rounded out play for the Rebels with a second round 79.
Third round play is slated to resume tomorrow morning at 10:30 a.m. CT, weather pending.
