Men’s Tennis Wins 4-3 at Auburn

Jan Soren Hain Clinches Match at 4-0 on Court 6
AUBURN, Ala. – No. 9 Ole Miss (9-7, 6-3 SEC) earned its fourth consecutive by winning 4-3 at Auburn (6-13, 2-8 SEC) on Friday.
The Rebels claimed the opening point in doubles, taking two out of three matches versus the Tigers. Ole Miss fell behind to start doubles after Auburn took Court 3, 6-1. Brady Draheim and Simon Junk brought the Rebels level by defeating Auburn's Maxwell Giddens and Tom Wright 6-3. With the victory Friday, Draheim and Junk have won four of their last five doubles matches. No. 1 Finn Reynolds and Tim Sandkaulen clinched the doubles point by defeating No. 32 Tad Maclean and Finn Murgett, 6-4. The top-ranked team in the nation improved to 10-2 this season and have earned three ITA top-40 victories in their last four matches (won all four).
Ole Miss and Auburn split singles, 3-3, as the doubles point proved essential to victory. John Hallquist Lithén, the reigning SEC Freshman of the Week, won first for Ole Miss. In his first career match at No. 3. Singles, Lithén defeated Maclean 6-2, 6-3, to extend the Rebels lead to two. Nikola Slavic extended the Ole Miss lead to 3-0 over Auburn by beating Tim Dollman 6-4, 6-3. Slavic won his first career match played at No. 2 Singles. In a day of firsts, Jan Soren Hain won his first singles match of the season in game-winning fashion. Hain clinched the match for the Rebels at 4-0 by defeating Giddens 6-3, 6-3 at No. 6 singles.
The Rebels and Tigers played out the remaining singles matches after Ole Miss sealed the victory. Auburn took Court No. 4, followed by No. 1 and then No. 5 to conclude singles. Ole Miss won by the final score of 4-3 at Auburn. The Rebels have defeated the Tigers in five straight matches.
Coming Up
The Rebels return to Oxford to face No. 35 Alabama at 1 p.m. CT on Sunday. Ole Miss will recognize Sandkaulen for Senior Day in Rebels final regular-season home match.
