Junior Collects Accolade for First Time in his Career

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Ole Miss men's golfer Jackson Suber was named First Team All-SEC by the conference coaches, the league office announced Friday (May 14). The junior from Tampa, Florida became one of nine golfers to earn first team accolades, collecting the honor for the first time in his career.

Ranked No. 28 in the country according to Golfstat, Suber has had a stellar season leading the Rebels. With the help of his team-best 71.17 stroke average, 12th in the SEC, Suber has placed in the top 20 in six of the eight tournaments. Four of those were top 10 finishes, and he won two individual titles as well.

Suber ended the fall with co-medalist honors at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate (Nov. 8-10). His three-round total of 198 (67-65-66) tied Braden Thornberry for the lowest 54-hole score in school history. Getting the spring season underway, Suber won the LSU Invitational (Feb. 26-28) to secure back-to-back victories and SEC Golfer of the Week honors.

An eighth-place finish at the General Hackler Championship (March 14-16) was followed by a fourth-place showing at the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship (March 26-28), giving Suber his fourth consecutive top 10 and 11th of his career. While at Old Waverly, he fired a career-low 63 (-9) to set a new tournament record.

Playing a tough course and against some of the top golfers in the country, Suber placed 15th in the Collegiate Invitational at the Country Club of Birmingham (April 5-7) and paced the field in par 5 scoring. At the SEC Championship (April 21-23), he finished strong with a final round 65 (-5). It was Suber's seventh round in the 60s this season, including the third round of 65-or-better.

Being named First Team All-SEC, Suber has added to his list of accolades as a Rebel. After the 2019-20 season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he was named to the PING Southeast All-Region team. In his first season on campus (2018-19), Suber had the second-best stroke average on the team (72.09) and collected SEC All-Freshman honors.

Suber and the Rebels return to postseason play next week (May 17-19), going up against 12 other teams at the NCAA Stillwater Regional. A top-five finish at Karsten Creek Golf Club would lock up a trip to the NCAA Championships in Scottsdale, Arizona (May 28-June 2).
