Postseason Honors Continue to Roll in for Orkus
OXFORD, Miss. – The postseason awards continued to roll in for Ole Miss soccer's Ashley Orkus as she was named to the TopDrawerSoccer Best XI First Team Monday afternoon.
The junior is the second Rebel ever to earn the TDS Best XI honors, joining CeCe Kizer (2017 and 2018), and is the only one in program history to land on the first team.
Orkus picked up the first All-American honors of her career last week after starring in goal for the Rebels this season. The Vestavia Hills, Alabama, product proved on the national stage that she is one of the top keepers in the country at the 2020 NCAA Soccer Championship, where she helped lead Ole Miss to the Sweet 16 for the second time in school history with a pair of dramatic shootout victories over Bowling Green and No. 8 national seed USC. Orkus' success has been recognized left and right as she was named First Team All-SEC, SEC Goalkeeper of the Year, TopDrawerSoccer National Player of the Week and First Team All-Southeast Region.
This season, she logged over 1,600 minutes on the pitch, tallying seven shutouts and 85 saves through 18 matches. Orkus proved to be a weapon for Ole Miss in all facets, becoming the first keeper in SEC history to record two assists in a match after posting two in the Rebels' 4-3 victory over Georgia. The following week against the Vanderbilt, she added another one on Channing Foster's golden goal. She continued her dominance in the spring, only surrendering four goals while anchoring the Rebels' defense as they made a postseason run in North Carolina.
