Johnson Named to First Team, Swann Garners Honorable Mention Honors

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Less than 48 hours after winning Ole Miss' first team title since 1962, two Rebel golfers earned All-America honors from the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Friday.

Julia Johnson garnered first team WGCA All-America accolades, while senior Kennedy Swann received honorable mention recognition.

Johnson, a second team WGCA selection in 2020, becomes the first Rebel in program history to earn first team All-America honors by any organization. Johnson, ranked No. 8 individually in the NCAA by both Golfstat and Golfweek, played in all 10 events during the 2020-21 season for Ole Miss and led the team in stroke average (71.34).

The St. Gabriel, Louisiana, tallied five top 5, eight top 10 & nine top 20 finishes this season, including a fifth place individual finish at the NCAA Championship. She has led Ole Miss on the leaderboard in six of the team's 10 events and registered 18 rounds of par or under.

Johnson's fifth place showing marked the 16th top 5 finish of her career, a program-best. Johnson now holds four of the five lowest 18-hole season averages in school history.

Swann finished the season with a stroke average of 72.68 after participating in every tournament this season for the Rebels. She tied for second on the team with seven top 20 finishes in 2020-21, including a co-medalist showing at the prestigious East Lake Cup in October.

Swann, who used her fifth-year of eligibility to return and pursue her MBA, finished the season No. 27 in Golfweek's collegiate individual rankings. She was Ole Miss' selection to earn an exemption into the Marathon LPGA Classic.

The Austin, Texas, native finished a perfect 3-0 during match play at the NCAA Championship, including a 2&1 win over the No. 4 collegiate player in the country, Maja Stark.
