Men’s Tennis Dominates ITA Southern Regional Awards

Rebels Win Five of Seven ITA South Awards Including both Coach and Assistant Coach of the Year and Three Awards for Sandkaulen

TEMPE, Ariz. – Ole Miss men's tennis received a handful of season awards as Toby Hansson was voted Wilson ITA Coach of the Year, Devin Britton ITA Assistant Coach of the Year and Tim Sandkaulen the Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportmanship, ITA Rafael Osuna Sportmanship and ITA Senior Player of the Year in the Southern Region as released by the ITA office on Monday.
 
Toby Hansson earned his first ITA Southern Wilson Coach of the Year Award in his seventh season as head coach at Ole Miss. He earned the ITA South Assistant Coach of the Year Award at Ole Miss in 2010. Hansson led the Rebels to a 13-11 overall record this season. Ole Miss reached the NCAA Sweet 16 and qualified for the NCAA Team Championships for the 27th consecutive tournament. The Rebels concluded the year ranked No. 14 in the nation after peaking at No. 9 in the ITA team poll during the season on March 30. The Rebels were voted as the No. 1 team in the ITA Southern Region. Hansson earns the third regional coach of the year award in program history joining Billy Chadwick's 2004 and 2008 achievements.
 
Devin Britton earned his first ITA Southern Assistant Coach of the Year Award in his fifth season at Ole Miss. The 2009 NCAA Singles Champion helped guide the Rebels to placing three singles players to qualifying for the NCAA Team Championships this season. Finn Reynolds earned a No. 9-16 overall seed in the NCAA Singles Championship and achieved ITA All-American status. Reynolds, Tim Sandkaulen and Nikola Slavic concluded the year all ranked in the ITA top-50. Britton is the fourth Rebel to win the award, joining Hansson, Mark Beyers (1997) and Jeff Clark (2006).
 
Sandkaulen concluded the 2021 season ranked as the No. 1 doubles player alongside Reynolds and No. 41 ranked singles player in the nation. Sandkaulen and Reynolds achieved ITA All-American status for the second consecutive season and earned the No. 1 seed in the NCAA Doubles Championships. Overall in 2019-20 Sandkaulen earned a 20-8 record in doubles and 14-17 record in singles. He earned 92 doubles victories, third most in Ole Miss history, and 91 singles victories, 11th most in program history. Sandkaulen was a member of the SEC Community Service team this season for the third time in his career. He is also a two-time ITA Scholar-Athlete and four-time SEC Academic Honor Roll Recipient.
 
Sandkaulen was named the recipient of the ITA Southern Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship, Rafael Osuna Sportsmanship Award and Senior Player of the Year. These three awards factor-in all student-athletes' achievements including tennis achievements, extracurriculars, service and academic. Sandkaulen is the third Rebel to win the Arthur Ashe Award joining Dave Randall (1989) and Tucker Vorster. He is the fourth Rebel to win regional Senior of the Year, joining Alex Hartman (2003), Jonas Lutjen (2013) and Nik Sholtz (2015). He is the second Osuna Award recipient in program history joining Randall (1989).
