NIL Guidelines for Student-Athletes, Supporters and Others

- Effective July 1, student-athletes may earn compensation at market value for their name, image, and likeness ("NIL"). Student-athletes may receive compensation in the form of money, services or goods.
- NIL contract/agreement activities may NOT conflict with academic or team schedules and responsibilities.
- Per state law, the use by student-athletes of any Ole Miss marks, logos, verbiage or designs in NIL activities is NOT permitted unless the University has provided advance written permission.
- NIL compensation may NOT be provided in exchange for athletic participation, performance or attendance at Ole Miss.
- Student-athletes will NOT be permitted to enter into NIL contracts connected with the endorsement or promotion of: gambling, sports betting, controlled substances, marijuana, tobacco or alcohol, performance enhancing supplements, adult entertainment or any product that reflects adversely on the school or athletic program.
- Ole Miss employees may NOT compensate or arrange compensation to a current or prospective intercollegiate athlete for her or his name, image, likeness.
- Student-athletes must report all NIL contracts to the athletics department through the INFLCR app/platform in advance of signing AND receiving compensation from the NIL contracts.
- The duration of a NIL contract may NOT begin before enrollment of the student-athlete and may NOT extend beyond participation in an athletic program at Ole Miss.
- Student-athletes may secure representation (agent, lawyer or advisor) ONLY for Name, Image and Likeness agreements or activities and NOT for future professional athletic contract negotiations. Student athletes must report to Ole Miss in writing at least seven (7) days before hiring an agent/advisor to represent or assist with NIL contracts or business.
- An athlete agent representing a student-athlete for purposes of NIL compensation agreements or activities must be registered in the state of Mississippi.
- An attorney representing a student-athlete for purposes of NIL compensation agreements or activities must be a member in good standing of The Mississippi Bar.
- International student-athletes should NOT enter into any NIL agreements without the guidance from the University of Mississippi Office of Global Engagement to discuss and prevent any complications with student visa/immigration issues.
- Pell Grant or need based financial aid could be affected by compensation from Name, Image and Likeness agreements. All such issues are case by case and particular to the individual Student-athlete and any questions should be directed to the University of Mississippi office of Financial Aid.
