Eight Decades of Ole Miss Basketball Represented at Alumni Weekend
8/5/2021 | Men's Basketball
"This is home. This is a special place for any athlete," said Murphy Holloway (2009-13).
The weekend began Friday evening at the Sandy and John Black Pavilion at Ole Miss, a place some of the Rebels walked into for the first time. With the SJB Paviliion opening in 2016, most of the alumni told stories about playing in Tad Smith Coliseum.
"This was the best five years of my life," added James Bailey (1990-92). "I came as a young man and left as a mature man."
Saturday featured the alumni checking out Craddock Court and putting up some shots before lunch in the SJB Pavilion Courtside Club.
"I just want to thank you guys who came before, what you have done and what you mean to us," head coach Kermit Davis said as he addressed the alumni at Saturday's luncheon.
The event concluded with more time on the court for some, while others headed out to the Ole Miss Golf Course for an afternoon round. Regardless of the location, memories continued to be shared. No matter when they laced up their sneakers and took the floor for the Red and Blue, it was evident that everyone was part of one big family.
