NEWPORT, R.I. – Ole Miss tennis All-American Finn Reynolds fell 7-6 (1), 6-2 to ATP No. 83 Soonwoo Kwon at the ITF Hall of Fame on Friday afternoon. Kwon's South Korean team took a 2-0 lead over Reynolds' New Zealand with three matches remaining on Saturday.

Reynolds put forth a strong showing versus a top-100 world ranked player in his first match for the New Zealand national team. Reynolds battled his way to a first set tiebreak, ultimately dropping the opening set and losing in straight sets to South Korea's highest-ranked individual.

Reynolds served first in the match, taking the opening game while recording an early ace. Kwon held serve to tie the set 1-1. Reynolds staved off Kwon in a 14-point third game to take a 2-1 advantage. The two players held serve through the next four games, giving Reynolds a 4-3 advantage. Reynolds then broke Kwon's serve at deuce to jump ahead 5-3. Kwon came back to break Reynolds at love and hold his own serve at love to tie the opening set at 5-5. Both Reynolds and Kwon held to reach a set-deciding opening tiebreak, 6-6. Reynolds won the first point of the tiebreak. Kwon proceeded to win seven consecutive points to win the tiebreak and the first set.

Kwon started strong in the second set; holding serve, breaking Reynolds' serve and holding serve again to take an early 3-0 lead. Reynolds then held his serve and earned a break-back of his own to trail 3-2. The two opponents exchange back-to-back breaks as Kwon immediately broke Reynolds' serve to regain a two-game lead, 4-2. Both players held serve the rest of the way as Kwon ultimately claimed the second set 6-3 and put South Korea ahead 2-0 overall in the tie.
