Reynolds and New Zealand Fall, 3-1, to South Korea in Davis Cup Qualifiers

Tie Concluded Prior to Finn Reynolds’ Potential Tiebreaking Match
NEWPORT, R.I. – Ole Miss Rebel Finn Reynolds and the New Zealand national tennis team were defeated by South Korea, 3-1, at the ITF Hall Of Fame on Saturday.
Reynolds, scheduled for Match No. 5, did not compete on Saturday as South Korea clinched the victory prior to Reynolds' scheduled match versus Ji Sung Nam.
With the loss, New Zealand will next compete in the World Group I Play-Offs in 2022. South Korea progresses to the Davis Cup 2022 Qualifying stage.
New Zealand trailed South Korea 2-0 entering Saturdays matches. The Kiwi's bronze medal duo of Marcus Daniell and Michael Venus earned New Zealand's first match point by earning a three set doubles victory over South Korea's Nam and Min-Kyu Song. After dropping the first set, 4-6, Daniell and Venus bounced back to win the second and third sets 6-2 and 6-4. South Korea remained one win away from victory ahead 2-1.
Soonwoo Kwon sealed a 3-1 victory for South Korea by defeating Rubin Statham in straight sets. Kwon won 6-3, 6-3, and was the only player to earn two victories in the tie.
Reynolds' first match of the fall collegiate season will take place at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma beginning Oct. 1.
