Derting and Horvath to Compete at ISSF Junior World Championship

Rebel Standouts to Shoot on World Stage in Peru
OXFORD, Miss. – Junior Kristen Derting and sophomore Lea Horvath are set to compete at the ISSF Junior World Championship in Lima, Peru, this upcoming week.
For the first time, Ole Miss will have two representatives shooting at the Junior World Championships. Derting and Horvath join Randi Loudin, who shot in 2018, as the only Rebel student-athletes to compete in a World Championship event. Tokyo Olympian Ali Weisz also competed at the 2018 event in Changwon, South Korea, early in her professional career.
After a breakout sophomore season, Derting earned a spot on USA Shooting's National Futures team in July. She spent part of this past summer at the Olympic Training Center, working with the Tokyo Olympians before being selected to represent her country for the first time. The Salem, Oregon, native will compete in two smallbore events, Junior Women's 3x40 and Junior Women's Prone.
Last year's CRCA Rookie of the Year, Horvath established herself as one of the top collegiate shooters. She's competed in multiple events with the Hungarian National Team and will add another one to the list, shooting in her third Junior World Championship. Horvath is scheduled to compete in the air rifle discipline individually and with Team Hungary.
The Rebel duo will compete in Lima, Peru, with events starting Sept. 29 and going through Oct. 9.
