Finn Reynolds and Nikola Slavic Receive Main Draw Singles Births for Prestigious Tournament

TEMPE, Ariz. – Ole Miss men's tennis earned 10 selections into the ITA All-American Championships, taking place Oct. 2-10 for the men and Oct. 4-10 for the women. The men's draw will be held at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma and the women's draw at LTP Mount Pleasant in Charleston, South Carolina. All Rebels selections occurred in singles, led by Finn Reynolds and Nikola Slavic placing in the main draw, and Sabina Machalova named as a main draw alternate and guaranteed qualifier as released on Monday.

The men's ITA All-American Championships features three segments; pre-qualifying, qualifying and the main draw. The 64-participant main draw includes 48 automatic qualifiers based on their preseason ranking. All eight Ole Miss men's tennis players were included in the field this year. Finn Reynolds and Nikola Slavic were included as automatic main draw qualifiers after finishing the 2021 season highly ranked. Reynolds was an ITA All-American in both singles and doubles last season and finished top ranked in the ITA South in both disciplines. Nikola Slavic places finished fourth in the ITA Southern region last year and was the No. 33 ranked individual nationally. John Hallquist Lithén is set to begin his sophomore campaign in the main qualifying draw as the sole Rebel earning an automatic entry to qualifiers. All other Rebels will feature in the pre-qualifying draw with four Rebels (Simon Junk, Lukas Engelhardt, Jakob Cadonau, Jan Soren Hain) earning guaranteed entries and newcomer Walker Stearns listed as an alternate.

On the women's side, both Sabina Machalova and Tiphanie Fiquet earned guaranteed entries into the main qualifying draw. Machalova has also been included as an alternate for the main draw. The women's singles tournament features a main singles draw and a qualifying draw. Machalova and Fiquet are among 60 players to be selected as qualifiers, and Machalova is also one of 10 alternates. Both Machalova and Fiquet spent time at No. 1 singles for the Rebels last season and were named to the All-SEC list (Machalova first-team, Fiquet second-team). Both Rebels concluded the 2021 season ranked, as Machalova finished top 50 at No. 42 and Fiquet top 100 at No. 95. In the ITA Southern region, Machalova was voted No. 3 and Fiquet No. 7 in singles.

The tournament has taken place every season (excluding 2020) since 1979 on the men's side and 1983 for the women's event. Ole Miss tennis players have won the All-American Championships three times in singles. Four-time All-American Paloma Collantes won the singles title representing the Rebels in 1991 and 1992. Catalin Gard claimed the men's title in 2004.

Tournament matchups and scheduling will be announced at a later date.
