Four Ole Miss Tennis Players Ranked in ITA Preseason Poll

Rebels Earn Six Total Preseason Rankings
TEMPE, Ariz. – Four Rebel student-athletes from the Ole Miss men's and women's tennis teams secured six positions within the 2021-22 ITA Preseason Rankings as released by the ITA on Tuesday.
The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced individual rankings, one day after the announcement of ITA All-American Tournament entries on Monday. Both Ole Miss programs earned three spots in the individual rankings, two in singles and one in doubles.
Men's tennis earned two top-25 positions in singles, with Finn Reynolds at No. 11 and Nikola Slavic with a career-best ranking of No. 21. Reynolds, the Rebels' No. 1 singles player in 2021, concluded the previous season ranked No. 17 in the final poll. He also matches his career-best singles ranking, achieved March 30, 2021. Slavic improved 11 positions upon his 2021 final ranking of No. 32, and holds a ranking five better than his career-high of No. 27 achieved April 14, 2021.
Reynolds and Slavic also rank No. 36 in doubles to begin the new season. Reynolds ranked No. 1 in the nation through the regular and postseason last year, and Slavic earns his first career ranking in doubles.
Sabina Machalova and Tiphanie Fiquet earned individual rankings in the women's preseason singles and doubles polls. Machalova begins the season ranked No. 27 after concluding last season ranked No. 42, and Fiquet improved 26 spots upon her final ranking of No. 95 to start the new year ranked No. 69 in the country. Both players have featured at both No. 1 and No. 2 singles for the Rebels.
Machalova and Fiquet have also been named the No. 48 overall doubles tandem in the preseason rankings. The new No. 1 doubles team for the Rebels earn their first ranking after pairing together at the end of last season and compiling a 3-1 record at No. 2 doubles. Machalova concluded last season ranked No. 87 alongside Alexa Bortles and peaked in the 2021 rankings at No. 24.
