Women’s Tennis Wraps Day One of Roberta Alison Classic

Rebels Gain Two Wins in Singles Bracket
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – A trio of Rebels wrapped up day one of competition at the Roberta Alison Fall Invite hosted by Alabama on Friday, with Ole Miss competing in one doubles match and six singles matches through the first day.
Kelsey Mize opened play for the Rebels in singles, starting out the Round of 32 against Alabama Birmingham's Adela Wasserbaureova. The Tulsa, Oklahoma, native made quick work of her competitor, sweeping her first match 6-4 in both sets.
Mize advanced to the Round of 16 and was set to face off against East Tennessee State's Ralitsa Alexandrova. However, the senior couldn't keep her momentum from her previous match and fell 6-3, 6-0 against the Buccaneer.
In Reka Zadori's first singles match of the day, she battled against Ayshe Can of Michigan State. Zadori started out strong and won her first set, 6-3, but fell in her second set, 4-6. Pushing the match to a third set, Zadori competed in a battle against the Trojan, but eventually fell 6-10 to give her competitor the win.
Zadori then went on to compete against Tulane's Jiayun Zhu. The Szeged, Hungary, native didn't let her previous loss hold her down for long as she went on to defeat her competitor, 7-6, 7-6 (8), and finish the day with a win.
Ludmila Kareisova went up against Adelaide Lavery of Tulane in her first match and was defeated 7-5, 6-3. She then went on to compete against Stetson's Alanna Di Francesco, but fell 6-2 in both sets against the Hatter.
In doubles, the Rebel duo of Mize and Zadori took on East Tennessee State's Fernanda Carvajal and Daniela Rivera, but dropped their match 6-2.
The Rebels will continue competition in Tuscaloosa on Saturday beginning at 9:00 a.m. CT.
