Seven Rebels Earn All-GARC Accolades

Lea Horvath Recognized as Shooter of the Year
OXFORD, Miss. – After wrapping up the GARC Championships with a third-place team finish, seven members of the Ole Miss rifle program were honored by the conference, including Lea Horvath, who was named GARC Shooter of the Year.
Horvath followed up her Rookie of the Year honors from last season by being named the Great America Rifle Conference's top shooter. She led the league with an 1186.67 average in conference matches and also earned First Team honors in smallbore, air rifle and combined.
One of the top smallbore shooters in the nation, Kristen Derting, received First Team Smallbore honors. She averaged a 587.67 in the discipline, the fourth-best mark in the conference. The junior also finished Second Team Combined All-GARC.
In addition to taking home silver in smallbore at the conference championship match, senior Abby Buesseler collected Second Team Smallbore honors and Honorable Mention Combined laurels. Senior Jillian Zakrzeski also capped off her final year as a Rebel with a pair of Honorable Mention nods in air rifle and the combined disciplines.
Junior Claire O'Neel picked up Second Team Air Rifle honors after becoming one of the nations' top shooters in the discipline with a 594.0 average. Sophomore Martina Gratz also earned Air Rifle Honorable Mention honors for the second straight season, averaging a 592.3 mark.
Rounding out the honorees was assistant coach Jean-Pierre Lucas, who took home the crown for top assistant coach for the fourth time in his five seasons at Ole Miss. Lucas helped guide the Rebels to a share of the regular season GARC title and a 7-1 record in conference matches.
Back in Oxford, Ole Miss will use this week to prep for the NCAA Rifle Championship in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on March11-12.
