Becomes Just the Second Rebel to Earn Top 10 NCAA Finish in Program History

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Ole Miss women's golfer Chiara Tamburlini matched her low-round of the weekend Monday, with her fourth round score of 70 (-2), helping her jump up to claim eighth place individually at the 2022 NCAA Championship.

This marks just the second time an Ole Miss women's golfer has cracked the individual top 10 at the NCAA Championship, as well as the second-highest individual finish in program history at the annual event.

Ending day four with her second 70 (-2) of the weekend and a four-day score of 290 (+4), Tamburlini's eighth place finish saw the St. Gallen, Switzerland, native sink 13 total birdies over the weekend with five of those coming on her final day in Scottsdale. Tamburlini finished ranked second in the field in par-3 scoring (-2).

Despite opening her final round with a bogey on No. 10, Tamburlini had a cool, calm and collected round, battling strong winds a majority of the day. Birdies on No. 11 and 16 would help Tamburlini reach the turn sitting at 1-under par on the day, setting the junior up to make a move down the stretch.

"You just really have to keep your driver on the fairway," Tamburlini said. "It was really windy the first day and even quite a bit today on the back nine, and that just makes it so hard to stop the ball and get it close. You end up having a lot of 15 or 20-foot putts for birdie, and obviously it's pretty hard to drop many of those."

Even with the winds playing a factor, Tamburlini strung together yet another half of golf at 1-under, tallying birdies on No. 1, 5 and 6 along with a pair of bogeys in her back nine, finishing 2-under on the day.

This marks the end of a milestone season for Tamburlini, having set personal and program-best marks across the 2021-22 season enroute to earning first team All-SEC honors and her eighth place finish in Scottsdale. Her, along with the rest of the Rebels, will now enter the offseason with many taking part in summer tournaments while away from Ole Miss in preparation for the team's 2022-23 season beginning in the fall.

"I'm going to be pretty busy just playing in some summer tournaments like the British Am, European Individual, European Team, World Amateur and probably just playing some with Swiss golf," Tamburlini said. "After all that, back at it again here next fall."
