Women’s Tennis Completes Day One of Sea Pines College Tournament

Anaëlle Leclercq & Lucie Devier Advance to Quarterfinals in Doubles

ATHENS, Ga. – Ole Miss women's tennis made their fall season debut competing at the Sea Pines College Tournament on Friday.
 
Doubles duo Anaëlle Leclercq and Lucie Devier opened the day on a high note for the Rebels with a 6-4 win over Old Dominion's Shahar Biran and Alesya Yakubovich. Lecercq and Devier will compete in the quarterfinals beginning on Saturday at 9 a.m. CT against Georgia Bulldogs Anastasiia Lopata and Mai Nirundorn.
 
In singles competition, Lillian Gabrielsen claimed victory over UNC Charlotte's Lucie Petruzelova. Gabrielsen began with a 6-2 set win to start the match off, but then fell in set two, 3-6. Gabrielsen battled back and took the win 6-4 to advance to the Round of 16. Gabrielsen will face off against Furman's Jess Dawson on Saturday.
 
Ole Miss Rebel Reka Zadori rounded out victories for the Rebels, where she competed against Allison Isaacs of Old Dominion. Zadori fell in the first set to Isaacs 5-7, but responded back with a 6-4 win in the second set. Going into the final set, Zadori battled with Isaacs and forced tiebreaker points. The sophomore Rebel came out on top with a final score of 5-7, 6-4, 7-6(6) to earn a spot in the Round of 16.
 
Lillian Gabrielsen and Kelsey Mize fell in their doubles match to Georgia's Anastasiia Lopata and Mai Nirundorn (3-6).
 
No. 111 ranked Rebel Anaëlle Leclerq competed against No. 101 ranked Georgia Bulldog Ania Herte in singles, but was defeated in two sets (6-2, 6-2).
 
Grad student transfer Lucie Devier made her Rebel debut on Friday. Devier competed against highly ranked No. 13 Mell Reasco of Georgia. Devier started out strong with a 6-4 win, but fell in set two 4-6. In the third set, Devier tied it up with the Bulldog 2-2, but had to withdraw from the match.
 
Junior Kelsey Mize went up against Georgia's Anastasiia Lopata in singles, but fell in two sets (6-3, 6-0).
 
On Saturday, quarterfinal doubles play is scheduled to begin approximately at 9 a.m. CT with singles to follow.
