Men’s Tennis Completes Successful Day at ITA Southern Championships

Noah Schlagenhauf Goes a Perfect 3-0 in Singles and Doubles
AUBURN, Ala. – A strong showing on Friday by Noah Schlagenhauf helped lead Ole Miss men's tennis to a successful day at the ITA Southern Championships.
Schlagenhauf posted a flawless record of 2-0 in singles 1-0 in doubles to help the Rebels complete a 4-1 record on the day. The Nuertingen, Germany, native punched his ticket into the main draw of singles, while the pairings of Nikola Slavic and Lukas Engelhardt as well as Schlagenhauf and Isac Stromberg won their respective main draw doubles matchups.
On the first day of the tournament, Schlagenhauf got off and rolling by defeating South Alabama's Braden Hanning, 7-6 (2), 6-1. Walker Stearns dropped his match against Alabama A&M's Yin Chih Lan, 6-2, 6-3, followed by Gordon Whitwell losing a tight battle, 6-2, 2-6, 10-5, versus Alabama-Birmingham's Iker Dellien.
On Friday, Schlagenhauf kept his momentum going from the previous day by securing two straight-set singles wins. The sophomore got to work again by besting South Alabama's Braden Hanning, 7-6 (2), 6-1 before securing a 7-6 (2), 6-3, victory over Olimjon Nabiev of Southern Mississippi.
The No. 1 seeded pair in the region, Slavic and Engelhardt, got the Rebels into the doubles win column early after the duo made quick work of New Orleans' Luke Joujan and Mark Armbruster, winning 6-1.
Schlagenhauf and Stromberg followed suit by defeating LSU's Rudy Ceccon and Charles Hobbs, 6-2. John Hallquist Lithen and Stearns fell in their doubles matchup against the Tiger pairing of Welsh Horard and George Stoupe, 6-3.
Tomorrow's action is set to get underway from Auburn at 9 a.m. CT with the doubles Round of 32. The main draw of singles will then open play in the afternoon beginning at 1:30 p.m. CT.
