Slavic and Engelhardt Finish as ITA Southern Region Doubles Runners-Up

Duo Finishes 5-1 in Auburn En Route To Second Place Finish
AUBURN, Ala. – Following five straight victories to punch their ticket into the ITA Southern Regional Doubles Championship match, the Ole Miss men's tennis duo of Nikola Slavic and Lukas Engelhardt ended their run as tournament runners-up in Auburn.
In the final matchup against Alabama's Filip Planinsek and Andrii Zimnokh, the Rebel duo came up short of winning the regional title falling, 6-4, 7-5.
Across the main draw, consolation and pick-up matches, the Rebels went 6-3 in doubles and 4-6 in singles to complete their time at the Yarbrough Tennis Center.
With their runner-up finish in Auburn, Slavic and Engelhardt have now earned automatic bids into the ITA National Fall Championships in San Diego next month. The Rebel pairing will be one of the 26 automatic entries into the tournament, with each region's doubles champions and runners-up receiving a spot in the Fall Nationals bracket as well as the ITA All-American champions and runners-up receiving bids.
The Rebels' fall season will conclude with the playing of the ITA National Fall Championships in San Diego (Nov. 1-5) and the ITF Future Tournament in Fayetteville, Ark. (Oct. 29-Nov. 5).
