Johnson Scores Fourth Goal of Season in Defeat

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Gili Johnson scored her fourth goal of the season and first in SEC play Sunday afternoon as Ole Miss (6-7-3, 2-5-2 SEC) was taken down by No. 9 Arkansas (11-3-2, 7-1-1 SEC) in Fayetteville.

The Rebels gave up five goals in a match for the first time this season and were outshot by Arkansas 27-6 on the day.

Arkansas scored three times in the first half, the most goals allowed in a half by the Rebels this season. Their first score came in the ninth minute, the earliest a team has scored against the Rebels this season.

The Razorbacks then scored two more times in both the 25th and 27th minute to take a 3-0 lead. Arkansas outshot Ole Miss 19-3 in the first half of play.

Arkansas found the back of the net two more times in the second half, scoring in the 56th minute and the 77th minute.

Down 5-0, Ole Miss finally got on the board in the 79th minute as Johnson was able to sneak past the Razorback backline and send one home for her fourth goal of the season. Hailey Cloud was credited with her first assist of the season, threading a pass through two defenders to set up Johnson for the score.

Ole Miss will wrap up the regular season next Thursday at home against Kentucky.
