Men’s and Women’s Hoops Earn Spots in Preseason AP Top 25

OXFORD, Miss. – Excitement is growing for basketball season at the Sandy & John Black Pavilion at Ole Miss. For the first time in school history, both the Ole Miss men's and women's basketball team will start the season ranked in the Preseason AP Top 25 poll.

Ole Miss is joined by UConn, Texas, UCLA, Iowa State, Duke, Baylor, North Carolina, Kentucky, Alabama one of 10 schools with both its men's and women's team in the 2024 preseason rankings, including three others in the SEC.

The men's AP poll was released on Monday with Chris Beard's squad coming in at No. 24, the second preseason AP nod in school history and the first since a No. 23 ranking in 1997-98.

Yolett McPhee McCuin's team will open the 2024-25 season at No. 20, the second consecutive year the Rebels will open the season ranked. Prior to last year's No. 12 selection, Ole Miss had not been ranked in the opening poll since 1992, as the program continues to climb to new heights.
