OXFORD, Miss. – Head coach Kory Henkes is excited for the future of Ole Miss women's golf, as Matilda Björkman has signed her financial aid agreement to join the Rebels for the 2025-26 campaign, announced Wednesday.
The Töreboda, Västergötland, Sweden, native becomes the sixth Swedish recruit to sign with Ole Miss under Henkes, joining some successful Rebels in Kajsalotta Svarvar, Filippa Sundquist, Andrea Lignell, Ellen Hutchinson-Kay and Pi-Lillebi Hermansson.
"We are extremely excited to welcome Matilda to our program," said Henkes. "She brings a wealth of international tournament experience with her. She is a powerful ball striker who will make an immediate impact on our program. Matilda has an infectious personality and we look forward to having her on campus next year."
Björkman has accumulated a plethora of honors, most notably winning the 2023 Swedish Junior Tour Elite #1. Additionally, the incoming freshman has earned 14 top-10 finishes in 29 events across her amateur career, including runner-up finishes at the Kumla Junior Open and the Ahlsell Final at Elisefarm.
Competing for her home country Sweden, Björkman became a silver medalist with her team at the 2022 World Junior Girls Championship and placed in the top-10 individually at the following year's event. She has also competed for the Swedish National Girls team at the European Championship and participated in the 2023 International Ladies Hexagonal Match.
"I chose Ole Miss because the golf program is great," said Björkman. "The team is great and I will have good opportunities for development while being able to pursue my academic career."
