OXFORD, Miss. – The Ole Miss men's basketball community lost one of their icons in former player Tim Jumper, 55, who passed away on Sunday, December 8.

"The Ole Miss family has lost a dear friend and great representative with the passing of Tim Jumper," said Vice Chancellor for Intercollegiate Athletics Keith Carter. "He enjoyed a remarkable playing career here and continued his love for the Rebels for the rest of his life, showing tremendous support for the basketball program. Tim's passion for life was indelible, and that energy will live on as we remember him for years to come."

Jumper was a four-year starter for the Rebels from 1987 to 1991 and was the first player in school history to earn SEC All-Freshman honors when he was a unanimous selection in 1988. He was a three-time SEC Academic Honor Roll award winner, graduating from Ole Miss with a Bachelor's degree in Marketing and a Master's degree in Business Administration.

A team captain his senior season, Jumper averaged double-digit points all four years in Oxford and finished with a career total of 1,375, currently the 20th-most in Ole Miss history.

Prior to joining the Ole Miss men's basketball program, Jumper was a two-time Mississippi Player of the Year in Class AA at Baldwyn High School, leading the Bearcats to consecutive Class AA state championships in 1986 and 1987. He was a two-time all-state selection and played in the 1987 Mississippi High School All-Star game.

Following his collegiate basketball career, Jumper lived in the Memphis area and was a businessman and sports agent.

He is survived by his son, Braxton, mother, Annie, father, Eddie, brother, Eddie Jr., and sister, Jada.
