Women’s Golf Brings in Trio of Recruits for 2024

2/9/2024 | Women's Golf

OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss women's golf is set to welcome three newcomers to Oxford as Emerson Blair, Kajsalotta Svarvar and Larissa Carrillo have each signed their National Letters of Intent, head coach Kory Henkes announced Wednesday.

Both signees are now set to join the Rebels for the 2024-25 season, as each will officially be enrolled and eligible to compete for Ole Miss beginning next fall.

"We are really excited about our 2024 signing class," Henkes said. "This class is an important class for us as we will graduate five players who have been instrumental in our lineups throughout their careers at Ole Miss.

"We wanted to find players who we thought would be a great fit as students, athletes and more importantly, people. We feel like these three players fit the mold. Emerson, Kajsalotta and Larissa bring a wealth of national and international playing experience who will provide value both on and off the golf course."

Blair joins Ole Miss after an impressive amateur career securing the 2023 Pride of the South Amateur title and the 2023 Mississippi Junior Amateur Championship. The West Point, Mississippi, native also qualified for six USGA Championships including the 2023 and 2021 U.S. Women's Amateur.

Blair is very familiar with the present Ole Miss team as she advanced to the round of 16 in the 2024 USGA Women's Four-Ball with partner and current Rebel Sophie Linder. Other notable amateur appearances for Blair include finishing runner-up at the 2022 Sea Pines Jr. Heritage and landing in the top 5 of the 2022 Kathy Whitworth Invitational.

Svarvar will head into Oxford with numerous wins at amateur events including the 2023 Tylosand Junior Open title. Her career is also highlighted by three victories at prestigious tournaments in 2021: the Ringenäs Junior Open, the PGA Junior Open and the Junior Masters Invitational.

Svarvar has also served to be a dominant force in international tournaments earning silver medals in the 2023 Swedish National Team Championships and the 2022 European Girls' Team Championship. The Halmstad, Sweden, native becomes the fifth Swedish recruit to sign with the Rebels under Henkes, joining Filippa Sundquist, Andrea Lignell, Ellen Hutchinson-Kay and Pi-Lillebi Hermansson.

Carrillo's amateur career is highlighted by wins at events like the LXVII Torneo Annual Valle Alto, the IV Copa Norte, and most recently the XII Copa Zona Centro. She has also earned top 10 finishes in 15 tournaments and qualified for the 2024 U.S. Girls' Junior Championship taking place July 15-20.

The Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico, native was chosen to be a member of the Mexican National Team and was asked to represent her home country as a Team Taylormade ambassador. As the first Mexican recruit to sign with the Rebels under Henkes, Carrillo will add significant depth to an already stacked Ole Miss lineup.
