Linder Named SEC Freshman of the Week

OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss women's golfer Sophie Linder was recognized as the SEC Women's Co-Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Thursday. The Carthage, Tennessee, native secures her second career conference accolade with this week's recognition.
The honor follows Linder's outstanding performance at the Valspar Augusta Invitational where she tied for a career-high sixth place in a field of 93 golfers. This marks the freshman's first top 10 finish and second top 20 placing of her collegiate career.
In her opening round in Augusta, Linder shot a career-low 18 hole score of 66 (-6) which tallies her fifth round below par this season. To conclude the tournament, Linder shot rounds of 72 (E) and 75 (+3) to propel her to a three-round score of 213 (-3).
Making 33 pars and 12 birdies across the weekend, Linder helped lead Ole Miss to its second tournament title and sixth top 5 finish of the season as the Rebels were named the 2024 Valspar Augusta Invitational Champions. Capping off the weekend with a three-round score of 856 (-8), the Rebels secured the second-lowest winning score in tournament history.
Linder and the rest of the Ole Miss squad will wrap up the regular season at the Clemson Invitational where the Rebels will look to defend their team title. The tournament is set to take place March 22-24 in Sunset, South Carolina, at The Reserve at Lake Keowee.
