Women’s Golf Duo Set to Compete at Augusta National Women’s Amateur
4/2/2024 | Women's Golf
AUGUSTA, Ga. – Ole Miss women's golf is set to have two golfers make the trip from Mississippi to Georgia this week for the 2024 Augusta National Women's Amateur.
Andrea Lignell and Caitlyn Macnab will both compete in the fifth iteration of the prestigious event, April 3-6.
The tournament, taking place a week before The Masters, will feature 72 of the best women's amateur golfers in the world and will be held at the Champions Retreat Golf Club. Following the second round, the field will be cut to 30 with the final round to be played at Augusta National.
The first and second rounds of the Augusta National Women's Amateur on Wednesday and Thursday will be broadcast live on Golf Channel (12:30-2:30 p.m. CT) from Champions Retreat Golf Club.
NBC Sports will produce and broadcast three hours (11 a.m.-2 p.m. CT) of live final-round coverage of the event at Augusta National. Additionally, Golf Channel's "Live From the Masters" will commence on Friday, April 5 at Augusta National to provide coverage of the Augusta National Women's Amateur.
This will mark the second time that Lignell has been selected to compete in the event, while Macnab has now received her third consecutive invitation to travel to Augusta.
At the 2023 Augusta National Women's Amateur, Lignell had a historic weekend as she earned a third place finish at the event by shooting 6-under par. The senior etched her name into the tournament record book, now holding the second-lowest 18-hole (67) and 36-hole (136) scores in the five-year history of ANWA. She is also the first Rebel in program history to ever survive the day two cut.
Last year, Macnab also had an extraordinary run as she finished tied for ninth in Augusta after stringing together a three-round score of 217 (+1). This marked an improvement from her performance at the 2022 Augusta National Women's Amateur, where she placed 11th.
