Women’s Golf Earns Bid to Bermuda Run Regional of NCAA Tournament
4/24/2024 | Women's Golf
OXFORD, Miss. – The 15th ranked Ole Miss women's golf team has officially received a bid to the Bermuda Run Regional, as announced at the NCAA Women's Golf Selection Show on Wednesday afternoon.
Earning the No. 3 seed in the region, the Rebels will now travel to Bermuda Run, North Carolina, to take part in the opening round of the tournament May 6-8. The Bermuda Run Regional will be hosted by Wake Forest and will take place at the Bermuda Run Country Club.
This marks the 15th time in program history that the Rebels have received a regional bid, with the team now being selected to their fifth-consecutive NCAA Tournament.
"We're excited to go to North Carolina," head coach Kory Henkes said. "I think it's a lot easier when you can stay remotely close to time zones and play on the same type of grass that you're used to practicing on. We have a great region, some tough competition and some teams we've seen earlier this year, so we'll just have to be disciplined and take care of business."
Reigning national champions Wake Forest came away with the top seed of the Bermuda Run Regional, while fellow SEC competitors Mississippi State and Tennessee also found its way into Ole Miss' region as the No. 4 and No. 7 seed, respectively.
Only the top five teams, as well as the top individual from a non-advancing team, will advance to the NCAA Championship at the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, California, May 17-22. The NCAA Championship will ultimately feature 30 teams and six individuals from non-qualifying teams.
