5/16/2024 | Women's Golf

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Ole Miss women's golf head coach Kory Henkes was named to the 2023-24 Division I Jackie Steinmann WGCA National Coach of the Year Presented by Golf Pride watch list, the organization announced Wednesday.

This would mark the third time in four years that Henkes has been selected to the prestigious list, including 2020-21 when she took home the WGCA National Coach of the Year award after guiding Ole Miss women's golf to their first title that year.

Henkes is currently in her ninth season in Oxford and has led the Rebels to their second consecutive NCAA Championships appearance and the fifth time in program history. Ole Miss is coming into Carlsbad, California with momentum after winning its first regional title in program history at the Bermuda Run Regional.

During the 2023-24 regular season, Henkes helped the Rebels to another successful showing with three first place finishes and five top five team finishes. The first team win of the year came in opening tournament of the season at the Cougar Classic in Charleston, South Carolina. Ole Miss shot 816 (-36) as a team which broke the record for lowest tournament team total in program history.

Henkes and the Rebels saw their next overall win come during the spring season at the Valspar Augusta Invitational in Augusta, Georgia. With a three-round score of 856 (-8), the second-lowest winning score in tournament history, the Rebels were an unstoppable force at the Forest Hills Golf Club, earning them their second team title.

Caitlyn Macnab was the lone Rebel to capture individual titles during Henkes' ninth season at the helm. Not only did Macnab secure a solo win at the Mason Rudolph Championship with a 204 (-12) scorecard, but the Johannesburg, South Africa, native also tied for the top spot at the regional after shooting 12-under.

Recognized as the highest annual coaching honor in women's collegiate golf, the Jackie Steinmann WGCA National Coach of the Year Presented by Golf Pride is awarded annually to the top coach in Division I, II, III and NAIA women's golf. The award will be announced after the upcoming NCAA Championship.

Henkes and the team are ready to retake the course one last time this season for the NCAA Championships, set to run from May 17-22 at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California.
