Women’s Golf Sits Tied for Third After Opening Round of Bermuda Run Regional

BERMUDA RUN, N.C - The Ole Miss women's golf team wrapped up the first round of action at the NCAA Bermuda Run Regional on Monday, as the Rebels' scorecard of 283 (-5) put them in a tie for third heading into day two at the Bermuda Run Country Club.
A foggy morning did not hinder the Rebels as they led the field in par-5 scoring, shooting 9-under while also making the second highest number of birdies with 17. Ole Miss currently sits in a good position as the top 5 teams from the regional at the conclusion of the third day will advance to the NCAA Championships in Carlsbad, California.
Caitlyn Macnab led the charge for the Rebels, ending the opening day with a 69 (-3) to mark her eighth round in the 60s on the season. Going flawless in the front nine, making three of her four birdies of the day, the junior sits tied for fourth heading into round two.
Along with Macnab, Natacha Host Husted also blasted her way to a scorecard of 69 (-3), placing herself in the top 5 for round two. The Copenhagen, Denmark, native led the field in par-3 scoring, shooting 2-under, and made the second most birdies on the day with a tally of six.
Justine Fournand helped to pace the Rebels with a round of 72 (E) to open the week, making three birides on the back nine to move her up the leaderboard into a tie for 21st. This marks the 13th round this year the senior has shot even or below par.
Not far behind was young guns, Sophie Linder and Nicole Gal, who shot rounds of 73 (+1) and 74 (+2), respectively. Linder will begin round two tied for 32nd while Gal will sit tied for 38th.
Ole Miss returns to action Tuesday morning for round two at the Bermuda Run Country Club. Gal will get things going for the Rebels by teeing off at 7 a.m. CT.
