Men’s Basketball Roster Breakdown: First-Year Players

The Ole Miss men's basketball team welcomes four first-year student-athletes to the program brought in by head coach Chris Beard and staff for the upcoming 2024-25 season. A trio of freshmen and a preferred walk-on will suit up for the Rebels, including John Bol, Zach Day, Eduardo Klafke, and Max Smith.
Hailing from South Sudan, Bol is ranked as the second-highest recruit in program history according to 247Sports, and holds national rankings in the class of 2024 as high as No. 54 by On3 and ESPN. The 7'2" forward was selected to play in the prestigious McDonald's All-American game this past April.
A 6'5" guard from Midland, Texas, Day brings a high-level shot-making ability to the Rebels this season as a freshman. He helped lead his high school team to a state championship, and averaged 24 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.1 assists as a senior.
The second freshman who calls home outside of the United States, Klafke came to Oxford from Brazil last winter and was able to train with the team as an early enrollee at Ole Miss. Prepping at the esteemed NBA Academy Latin America, the guard has represented his home country in U19 games nationally as young as 17 years old.
A member of the high school class of 2020, Smith recently earned his undergraduate degree from Ole Miss, but joins the basketball program as a preferred walk-on. The Austin, Texas native averaged 24 points per game at Anderson High School.
New season tickets for the 2024-25 Ole Miss basketball season are already on sale and can be purchased by clicking here. Current season ticket holders can renew their tickets beginning July 1.
