8/7/2024 | Soccer

OXFORD, Miss. – This year’s midfielder room is a mix of experience and youth that is sure to bring excitement to the pitch.

Seniors Aubrey Mister, Hailey Cloud, Lauren Montgomery, and sophomore Dakota Jarrett all return for the Rebels after year one under Molly Rouse.

Montgomery led the core four with 16 starts, logging 1,201 minutes on the pitch, good for third-most on the team. She was named a 2023 SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll member and has appeared in 36 matches over her past two seasons for the Rebels.

Hailey Cloud made 15 starts for the Rebels in 2023, logging 752 minutes of action. She tallied three points on the year via one goal and one assist. A 2023 CSC Academic All-District recipient, the Union, Mo. native is as versatile as they come being able to play both the midfield and along the back line.

Aubrey Mister logged 976 minutes in 17 games last season, including 11 starts. 2023 saw Mister earn CSC Academic All-District, 2023 SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll, and she was named a captain for the 2023 campaign.

Cloud and Mister both return as goal scorers and combined for 19 shots last season. Mister also led the team in assists during the 2023 campaign.

Jarrett enters her second year having appeared in 12 games, logging 323 minutes. She dished out one assist last season against Louisiana Tech in a 6-2, Ole Miss win on Sept. 10.

AN IMPRESSIVE FRESHMAN CLASS

Five newcomers will join the midfield room for the 2024 season led off by the international duo of Astrid Nyquist and Taylor Howarth. Nyquist, the Västerås, Sweden native arrives in Oxford after four years at De la gardiegymnasiet. Howarth, who hails from Preston, England comes from the highly successful Cardinal Newman College program and saw action with the Everton women’s club team.

Tatum Hofstetter of Scottsdale, Ariz. brings plenty of experience having played for six club teams throughout her high school career. Grace Smith of Cypress, Texas joins her in the middle having earned three varsity letters. Rounding out the newcomers is two-time CHS Offensive Player of the Year Maryann Beach. The Roswell, Ga. product tallied 44 goals and 28 assists under Shannon Keane at Centennial High School.
