Women’s Golf Collects Golf Channel Preseason Honors
9/3/2024 | Women's Golf
OXFORD, Miss. – With the 2024-25 season quickly approaching, Ole Miss women's golf and senior Caitlyn Macnab received preseason recognition, as announced by the Golf Channel on Tuesday.
The Rebels sit in the Top-25 once again, checking in at No. 24 while Macnab was named a third team All-American.
Although the Rebels lost seven student-athletes from last year's squad, Ole Miss will return three vital contributors in Macnab, Nicole Gal and Sophie Linder who all helped lead the team to three medalist finishes, including the first NCAA regional championship in program history, and seven top-5 finishes.
Head coach Kory Henkes also returns sophomore Filippa Sundquist and adds the freshman trio of Emerson Blair, Larissa Carrillo and Kajsalotta Svarvar to the 2024-25 squad.
Macnab is no stranger to being nationally recognized after stringing together a stellar 2023-24 season with the Rebels. Last year she earned All-America honors by Golfweek and WGCA, was named to the All-SEC Second Team and appeared on the spring watch list for the ANNIKA Award. She was also invited to play at the 2024 Augusta National Women's Amateur and the 2024 Arnold Palmer Cup.
The Johannesburg, South Africa, native came in clutch in the postseason, earning her third career medalist finish after tying for the NCAA Bermuda Run Regional individual championship to lead the Rebels to the overall title. She also was named the top finisher at the Mason Rudolph Championship earlier in the season.
The senior tallied seven top 10 finishes on the year and found herself in the Ole Miss record book multiple times. Macnab holds the second lowest season stroke average of any Rebel with a 70.92, ties for the lowest 54-hole score in Ole Miss history, shooting a 203 (-10), ties for the second most rounds in the 60s with ten and is tied for most rounds below par in a season at 19.
Macnab and the rest of the Rebel squad will commence their fall season Sept. 9-10 at the Cougar Classic in Charleston, S.C.
